    Description

    Hot cells used in nuclear fuel reprocessing and radioactive waste management present a uniquely hostile environment: intense gamma and neutron radiation, restricted access, and the need for remote manipulation. The KSSM series radiation-resistant servo motor has been specifically developed for such conditions. This radiation-resistant servo motor can endure cumulative ionizing doses up to 1×10⁶ Gy without degradation, as its winding encapsulation, bearing grease, and position sensor all utilize radiation-stabilized materials. Stainless steel construction not only resists corrosion but also simplifies decontamination procedures. Within a hot cell multi-axis gripper, the radiation-resistant servo motor actuates shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints, while a resolver furnishes absolute angular feedback, enabling precise teleoperation. Because hot cells preclude hands-on maintenance, the radiation-resistant servo motor must demonstrate exceptional longevity — and the KSSM series has passed accelerated life tests exceeding 20,000 hours of continuous duty. Furthermore, this radiation-resistant servo motor operates across a temperature window of -60℃ to +120℃, accommodating the self-heating effect of radioactive decay without supplementary cooling. Deployed in national projects such as vitrification of high-level waste and spent fuel reprocessing, the radiation-resistant servo motor powers remote manipulators and transfer carts. Without a radiation-resistant servo motor of this class, automated hot cell operation would remain impractical. The KSSM series radiation-resistant servo motor thus delivers the ruggedness and longevity required for nuclear environments, reinforcing the indispensable status of radiation-resistant servo motors in radioactive material handling.
