    Description

    Nuclear waste treatment processes involve the transfer, encapsulation, and interim storage of radioactive materials, with all operations carried out remotely within hot cells or shielded enclosures. In such scenarios, motion mechanisms must withstand cumulative radiation doses of up to 1×10⁶ Gy in high-dose-rate fields, while maintaining positioning accuracy and load capacity. The KRS Series Radiation-Resistant Rotary Platform employs radiation-screened insulating materials and metallic structural components, with motor windings and feedback devices reinforced against radiation damage to ensure controlled operation under high-dose conditions. This radiation-resistant rotary platform incorporates design features that eliminate conventional organic seals and greases, replacing them with metal bellows seals and solid-film lubricants to reduce the risk of sealing failure due to radiation-induced aging. In typical applications, this radiation-resistant rotary platform is installed on the manipulator arm or workpiece indexing table inside hot cells, used for alignment of waste canisters, lid tightening/removal, or switching of sampling bottle positions. The repeatable accuracy of ±0.005° (±0.3′) ensures precise alignment between the manipulator gripper and the target object during encapsulation, reducing the probability of radioactive leakage or jamming incidents caused by positioning errors. This radiation-resistant rotary platform accommodates an ambient temperature range of -80°C to +200°C, covering the operational requirements of high-temperature zones in vitrification processes for high-level waste, as well as low-temperature handling stages in spent fuel reprocessing. Drive options include stepper motor or servo motor, with all electrical connections routed through hermetic feedthroughs to the exterior of the hot cell. Control signals and power cables can be routed within lead-shielded conduits, preventing additional radiation exposure to operating personnel. In existing project deployments, this radiation-resistant rotary platform has accumulated over 12,000 hours of continuous operation without any positioning deviation or shutdown incidents attributable to radiation damage, verifying its engineering suitability for the demanding conditions of the nuclear industry.
