Expanding the horizons of intelligent manufacturing
The 2024 Equipment Manufacturing Industry Development Conference held in Chongqing recently showcased a myriad of advanced technologies and innovative achievements, highlighting the profound impact of intelligence on manufacturing development. By the end of 2023, China's intelligent manufacturing equipment industry had surpassed RMB 3.2 trillion in scale, with 421 national demonstration factories and over 10,000 provincial-level digital workshops and smart factories established. Technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital twins have been applied in over 90% of these demonstration factories.
As a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation steadily advances, China's manufacturing industry is diving deeper into intelligent transformation. However, challenges persist alongside opportunities, including inadequate and uneven development, insufficient technical support, low application and promotion levels, imperfect standard systems, and severe data security issues. To address these, reforms must be deepened to promote the integration of industrialization and informatization on a broader, deeper, and higher level.
To grasp the strategic path of intelligent transformation, a system for promoting the deep integration of the real and digital economies should be established. Avoiding rushed and impatient approaches, the transformation should focus on both quantity and quality. Long-term mechanisms should be built, with hierarchical and classified approaches tailored to different enterprises. Systemic support should be strengthened through policy, funding, and technological innovation. Lastly, the security barrier for intelligent transformation must be fortified, ensuring stable and reliable infrastructure, enhancing digital product capabilities, and strengthening the security system for data-intensive enterprises.
By addressing these aspects, China's manufacturing industry can safely navigate internal and external risks during its intelligent transformation journey.
